ART EDUCATION

I envision Art Education transgressing boundaries, not just in the art community but also the community at-large. Together with the students, I would like to form a collaborative process that uses studio classes, museum/gallery visits, art projects and the school environment to address community-based issues that directly affect younger people. Collaborating with students, local communities and artists will demonstrate how art affects social change. Developing complex strategies for joining together a variety of experiences, values and notions completely motivated by genuine inquiry, meaning and positive intention. This type of cooperative learning experience will ensure that students continue to work towards becoming life long learners and socially aware individuals.

An effective Art Education can contribute to exposing students to the commonalities, differences, contradictions, continuities and the many possibilities of social growth and change in the world.
