Terciopelo Series

Terciopelo is the Spanish term for velvet, it is also the name given to the venomous snakes found in the sugar cane and plantation fields in the Caribbean. In this body of work I am exploring concepts of religion, consumption and survival to investigate the tensions between cultural expectations and preservation.
